It always sucks to see any artist having to pull out of a show for any reason, but arguably one of the most heart-breaking reasons is laryngitis. With the illness having such a severe impact on someone's vocal chords, it's a devastating thing for a singer to go through.
So, as you can imagine, Troye Sivan, who was to play his first home shows here in Australia, is quite sad about having to cancel his Sydney and Perth shows, saying this on his Tumblr page:
"In the last week I’ve been to Washington DC, Toronto, New York, London, and Sydney, and it just feels like my body and voice have finally given up on me. I have family flying in for this show, friends flying in, journalists coming, music industry people coming that I’ve been looking forward to meeting for months, my record label who I care so deeply about and who work so hard every day (and who haven’t seen me play yet), this was my first home show (!!!!), and most importantly there’s you guys waiting outside the venue already..."
Troye was to perform at the Metro Theatre in Sydney on November 12, and then in Perth on November 15 at the Astor Theatre. If you booked tickets to see him by credit card, Frontier Touring says that your card will be refunded within the next 7 days. If you paid via cash or EFTPOS in Sydney, you'll be contacted regarding refund details, whilst those that booked to see him in Perth via cash are advised to contact the Astor Theatre box office.
It isn't entirely bad news if you're a fan of Troye though, because you can pre-order his upcoming album Blue Neighbourhood now, click the link below!
Get well soon Troye!
