Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift top Grammy Nominations

The biggest night in music is set to be dominated by a hip hop artist straight out of Compton, a former country singing star and a Canadian RnB artist after the nominations for the 2016 Grammy Awards were released over night.

Kendrick Lamar, most recently of Bad Blood along with Taylor Swift has the most nominations with 11, followed by Swift and Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd both earning seven nominations.

Australia is represented by three-time ARIA award winner Courtney Barnett, who will go up against the likes of James Bay, Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly and Meghan Trainor for the Best New Artist award.

The major award on the night, Record of the Year, is set to be hotly contested, with the likes of Swift, Ed Sheeran, Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars, The Weekend and D'Angelo and the Vanguard all going for the major gong.
